The Jezersko-Solčava sheep, one of Slovenia's three indigenous breeds of sheep, found its home in the exceptional and picturesque embrace of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The Jezersko–Solčava breed of sheep is a result of cross-breeding of small domestic white sheep with the Italian Bergamasca and Padovana breeds and has been included in a conservation programme since its beginning. This resistant, healthy and high-growth breed is well adjusted for walking and grazing on the valley's steep mountain pastures.
Since 2010 the two-day Bicka Festival, devoted to this special breed, has been held every September. Visitors can get well acquainted with this cute animal and the universal use of its assets.
During the festival you can see: fashion shows with dresses made using wool, open kitchen - local specialities, a market featuring local products (food, wood, wool...), live music...
