The story of kings and Savinjski želodec
In August 1932 Yugoslavian King Aleksander, who had his hunting residence in Bohinjska Bistrica, came over the Kamnik saddle to the Logar Valley, accompanied by the British King George V. Together with their companions, they stopped at Hotel Plesnik and, among others, ate plentiful amounts of the traditional, local homemade salami called savinjski želodec.
Our hotel today
Hotel Plesnik is an alpine hotel in the heart of the regional park, where you will feel at home. We are a small family boutique hotel with over 80 years of experience in the hotel industry.
We try to ensure that all guests fully experience both the place and our local products. Our priceless location with great views of the peaks of the Kamnik Alps, friendly staff and quality services have enabled us to host presidents and prime ministers, as well as important international events.
Our goal is to fulfill even the smallest wish of our guests by considering sustainability, respecting tradition and local connectivity. As a member of the Slovenian Convention Bureau we are constantly learning, developing, following trends and participating in competitions. For the third time in a row we have been selected among the top 10 boutique hotels in the region of 'New' Europe and have received a Meetings Star Award - an award for outstanding achievements in the field of marketing communication destinations, congresses, events and meetings suppliers in South East Europe – awarded by Kongres magazine.
The preservation of nature means a lot to us, that is why we renovated our wellness centre following sustainable development and environmental conservation principles. Since May 2016, our guests have been able to enjoy and relax in our alpine wellness centre, which has three different saunas, a whirlpool with massage seats, an outdoor natural swimming pool, a rest area and a panoramic window wall with views of the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Our wellness programmes also include yoga and meditation for relaxation.
Quality food prepared using fresh local products is of important value to our guests. Our kitchen does not use any artificial additives or flavour enhancers, and, as much as possible, tries to create food using products from local farms.
Business groups can choose from a wide range of experiences prepared by our entertainment team: from shepherds, farmers and hunting games to unique and innovative expeditions with IFMGA mountain guides exploring the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. For lovers of nature, there are a whole host of activities available, such as a kayak school, rafting, exploring archaeological and snow caves, cycling along the Solčava panoramic road up to an altitude of 1,200 metres above sea-level, offroad 4x4 rides to some of the hidden corners of the Logar Valley, archery, torchlit night walks to a woodcutter's hut, bread baking competitions, felting workshops, and more.
Conditions for business meetings are perfect: air-conditioned conference rooms with projection equipment and sound system and fixed optical internet with speeds of 30/30 MB/s. And, most importantly, large windows that provide daylight.
Welcome to our little paradise in the heart of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps!
