As the Logar Valley turns golden with autumn, Hotel Plesnik invites you to discover a month dedicated to exceptional food, local stories and memorable culinary experiences.
This year’s Culinary October has an added reason to celebrate: the Plesnik family marks 600 years of living in and shaping life in the Logar Valley – six centuries of deep connection to this remarkable Alpine landscape.
Throughout October, the hotel will bring together acclaimed chefs, local producers, seasonal ingredients and traditions rooted in the Solčava region. From intimate dinners and culinary workshops to farm visits, herb walks and fine dining, each experience offers a different way to taste the valley.

It is also a chance to raise a toast to new stories in the space we proudly consider the heart of our hotel.

Meet the Makers: An Evening with Local Producers
For chefs Tom Čopar and Janez Bratovž, great cuisine begins with great ingredients – and with the people who grow, raise and create them. The first evening of Culinary October is therefore dedicated to the producers of the Solčava region, whose ingredients have become an essential part of the Plesnik kitchen.
Meet the producers, hear their stories, taste and purchase their products, then sit down to a special dinner created around the ingredients you have just discovered. The evening will continue with music and relaxed conversation.
When: Friday, 2 October, from 6 pm; dinner at 7 pm
Price: €65

A Morning at Matk Farm
High above the valley, life at Matk Farm still follows the rhythms of nature, animals and long-standing mountain traditions. Ever since chefs Tom Čopar and Janez Bratovž first visited the farm, its ingredients have played an important role in Plesnik’s cuisine. This October, Hotel Plesnik guests can experience the farm for themselves: watch the morning goat milking and enjoy a hearty mountain breakfast prepared with local produce.
When: 3 and 10 October at 7:15 am
Goat milking takes place only in suitable weather conditions.

Foraging the Flavours of the Valley
The meadows of the Logar Valley are filled with herbs and plants that local people have used for generations – both in the kitchen and as part of their everyday wellbeing. Join herbalist Amanda Kladnik-Babave for a relaxed walk through the surrounding landscape and discover the plants, traditions and stories of the Solčava region. The herbs gathered along the way will then be combined with fresh cottage cheese from nearby farms to create a seasonal spread, served as part of a light autumn lunch.

Guest Chef Dinner: Jakob Pintar x Plesnik
A special culinary collaboration comes to the Logar Valley as chefs Tom Čopar and Janez Bratovž welcome Jakob Pintar, chef of Ljubljana’s TaBar, one of Slovenia’s best-known restaurants of the new generation and recognised by the Michelin Guide.
Pintar’s cuisine is bold, playful and deeply seasonal, often drawing on wild herbs, fermentation, his own garden and the surrounding landscape.
In the green setting of the Logar Valley, his approach finds a natural counterpart in Plesnik’s own philosophy. Together, the chefs will create an evening in which two distinctive culinary perspectives meet on the plate.
An oenologist from Puklavec Family Wines will accompany the dinner with a carefully selected wine pairing, sharing the stories and character behind each wine.
