The esteemed international culinary guide Gault&Millau has awarded Restaurant Plesnik three toques.
On Tuesday, 17 March 2026, the awards of the renowned international culinary guide Gault&Millau were presented at Ljubljana’s Festival Hall. In the very month when Hotel Plesnik in Logar Valley breathes gastronomy and hosts culinary events every weekend (more about Culinary March at this link), the news of this important recognition delighted chef Tom Čopar, chef Janez Bratovž, and the entire team behind Plesnik’s authentic culinary experiences. The international guide Gault&Millau awarded Restaurant Plesnik three toques – a distinction that confirms the excellence of its cuisine.
“This prestigious award is not only a confirmation of quality – it is a symbol of the passion, dedication, and love for gastronomy that we create together with chef Janez Bratovž and our team, in close connection with the local environment. It is a recognition for all of us, as well as for our local suppliers,” said chef Tom Čopar at the ceremony. “We are proud to be part of a selection of outstanding Slovenian restaurants that together shape the identity of Slovenian gastronomy.”
Culinary milestones marked by awards
The past two years have been filled with milestones for Hotel Plesnik: from menu refinement and the expansion of its culinary offer to the opening of Restaurant Plesnik, a fine dining venue, and the introduction of culinary experiences such as workshops, events, and culinary hikes that transform a stay at the hotel into an exciting gastronomic experience.
Plesnik’s excellence has been recognised by numerous domestic and international media and culinary critics, alongside a series of awards and accolades. Among them are an outstanding rating from the renowned Falstaff guide, which awarded Plesnik 89 points and two forks, and a Michelin Green Star – one of the most prestigious recognitions for sustainable and responsible gastronomy, awarded to kitchens that respect nature and the local environment through their vision and practices.
“Recognitions such as Gault&Millau, the Michelin Green Star, and Falstaff forks confirm that we are on the right path. It is a path of respect for nature and tradition, without shortcuts, and with a sincere relationship towards our suppliers and our guests,” said Urška Kolar, Director of Hotel Plesnik.
Every dish served at Hotel Plesnik reflects a sustainable approach and a genuine connection with the local environment – from the careful selection of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to close collaboration with nearby producers. This award therefore brings renewed momentum to everyone shaping the story of outstanding gastronomy in Logar Valley, one of Slovenia’s most beautiful Alpine corners.
